Arjun Kapoor Says Vikrant Massey Was A Better Actor Than Him In Half Girlfriend: ‘I Wish I Was Able To…’

Recently, Arjun Kapoor reflected on his 2017 film Half Girlfriend and shared some regrets about his performance. In an interview with Galatta Plus, the actor admitted he wasn’t fully satisfied with his work, blaming the dubbing process for losing the authenticity of his original dialogue delivery.

Opening up on why he doesn’t like dubbing for films, Kapoor shared, “I wish I didn’t have to dub for Half Girlfriend with the dialect. I think I had done a good job on the set but then unfortunately, I had to dub and I am not somebody who is very fond of dubbing because it undermines the honesty in that moment. Also, we, in this generation don’t dub all the time. Not to say it was my worst or whatever but I look back as a critic and I wish I was able to retain the pilot, I was much better at my dialect. You learn the dialect and perform it.”

Praising co-star Vikrant Massey, Kapoor said, “Like Vikrant (Massey) is much better in the dub. He is a much better actor in the film also, in that sense, much more nuanced in that sense. But I was supposed to play more to the gallery but I was not able to get the dialect bang on in the dub which I had in the pilot. So that’s a minor look back and a learning experience for me.”

Released in 2017, Half Girlfriend is a romantic drama directed by Mohit Suri, based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name. The film stars Arjun Kapoor as Madhav Jha, a small-town boy, and Shraddha Kapoor as Riya Somani, a rich Delhi girl, exploring their complicated love story. Arjun Kapoor was last seen in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. Playing a negative role in the cop drama, he received accolades for his portrayal of the villain.
