Benefit fraudster among defendants sentenced at York Magistrates Court
Lee Coggins, 46, of West Park Terrace, off Falsgrave Road, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to stealing beef worth £277 from Marks and Spencers in York. He was given a 12-month community order with 25 days’ rehabilitative activities and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.
Lara Daly, 39, of Denison Road, Pocklington, pleaded guilty to benefit fraud and was given a 10-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. She must pay a £154 statutory surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
Damien Moore, 37, of Chesney Fields, Foxwood, was jailed for 16 weeks after he pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order by contacting a woman.
Robert Elkes, 30, of Lindsey Avenue, Acomb, was jailed for eight weeks after he pleaded guilty to burgling a restaurant, stealing electrical items from Tesco’s Clifton Moor store, possessing cannabis and failure to attend court.
Lee Atkinson, 40, of Main Street, Fulford, was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months on condition he does 30 days’ rehabilitative activities after he pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order by going onto a named road in Acomb.
