Bonfire night fireworks display to take place at Strathclyde Country Park

North and South Lanarkshire Councils are teaming up again to host the popular event on Tuesday, November 5.

The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm while a 30-minute display will be held at 7.30pm.

Guests can enjoy a range of food outlets by The Big Feed at the Watersports Centre concourse and the foreshore car park from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

Entertainment will be provided by DJ Elliot Boyce around the centre.

Parking will be available at Hamilton Palace Sports Grounds, Low Parks Museum, South Lanarkshire Council’s overflow car park at the rear of Aldi, and on Keith Street and High Patrick Street.

The usual restrictions and fees will be lifted in these car parks for the evening.

The beach car park in the park will be closed and other car parks in the park are expected to fill up early.

Vehicles parking in Strathclyde Country Park will be held for some time after the display ends to allow people on foot to exit safely, so drivers are asked to be patient.

Andrew McPherson, depute chief executive, said: “We want families to enjoy the spectacle of fireworks in a safe environment, and our event at Strathclyde Country Park offers a professionally run display and a fun night for everyone.

“The event is always popular and, with limited parking within the park, we would encourage people to travel by public transport where possible and arrive early to enjoy the DJ and bonfire.”

More information about the event can be found on the North Lanarkshire Council website.
