Girl, 7, and boy, 12, struck by van while riding scooter in South Shore
Two children were injured Wednesday when they were struck by a van while riding a scooter in South Shore.
About 3:40 p.m., a 7-year-old girl and a boy, 12, were riding an electric scooter west on East 69th Street when the driver of a van traveling south on South Stony Island Avenue struck them at the intersection, Chicago police said.
The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition, police said. The boy was taken to the same hospital in fair condition.
The driver of the van stayed at the scene and was not issued any citations, police said.
CPD’s Major Accident Unit is investigating.
