Holiday Bowl parade kicks off game day in downtown San Diego
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Specialty balloons, marching bands and more festivities took place along the San Diego Bay Friday morning for the annual Holiday Bowl Parade.
The procession began at 10 a.m., following the traditional route along Pacific Highway beginning at the intersection of Grape Street and Harbor Drive. The parade was free to watch, but grandstand seating cost $30 per person.
Holiday Bowl organizers said they are expected tens of thousands of spectators for the game day kick-off event.
Road closures were put in place along Harbor Drive for the parade, stretching from Grape Street to Broadway. They will be lifted at 11:45 a.m., according to event organizers.
