Homeowner disturbs thieves during raid in York suburb

North Yorkshire police say the break-in happened between 6.35pm and 6.55pm on Sunday (January 5) in Rose Street off Haxby Road.

A police spokesman said: “Two men gained access to the property through a rear door which caused damage before they were then disturbed by the homeowner.

“The suspects are described as two white men in their teens with one wearing a grey tracksuit top with a dark coloured body warmer over the top. The second man was wearing a two tone grey coloured top.

“We’re particularly appealing for information about anyone in the area of Rose Street or Haxby Road around the time of the incident and are asking residents to review their CCTV. Please email nicki.holmes2@northyorkshire.police.uk if you have any information that could help our investigation.”
