How TikTok has transformed a Drumchapel day centre

Antonine Court aims to provide the highest level of care and support to educate and enable adults with varying abilities and their families to reach their full potential within their own goals and aspirations.

Brian Doran, a support worker at the centre, launched the account last month with help from service user Aidan Langan and it has already surpassed 10,000 followers.

The account shows daily life at the centre and Brian opened up on the positive impact the experience has had on the service users.

“His personality has grown so much as well as his confidence. It has been amazing to see him flourish.

“We get on so well and the feedback from his family has been really positive.

“It has allowed a lot of family members to see exactly we do on a daily basis.”

Brian hopes the charity having a social media presence will help promote the positive work they do on a daily basis.

He continued: “We launched the account back in January but have only really started posting over the last month.

“It is important to engage with platforms that can reach young people.

“The content mostly involves us going through the activities for the day, the lunch menu and highlighting upcoming events.

“We also have a morning dance class that is popular, and a lot of the viewers seem to enjoy that.

“Festive content is what we are focusing on currently.”

She added: “We are always keen to raise awareness of disabilities and also showcase the important work that is carried out at the day centre.

“We think it is important for the wider public to have an insight into the care and support that is available at the Antonine.”
