I stormed out of sister’s gender reveal – she threw a tantrum about having a boy
HOLDING a gender reveal has become the norm over recent years.
But people are questioning if they’re a good idea if you have your hopes up for a specific gender, and one woman saw it go awry herself.
It’s not uncommon for people to get a little upset when they find out the gender of their child and it doesn’t mean they won’t love them.
But it can be a shock to the system at first, especially when you’re pregnant and already feeling hormonal fluctuations.
But one woman has slammed her sister as ‘sick’ for throwing a tantrum at her gender reveal.
In fact, she was so horrified by the scene that she stormed out of her sibling’s party.
In a post on Reddit, the 37-year-old said she attended her sister’s gender reveal party.
Initially, she was confused when she arrived as the room was decorated in “so much pink“, making it look like her sister already knew she was expecting a baby girl.
But when the gender reveal happened and the mum-to-be found out she was actually going to be having a boy – she became “hysterical”.
She was “furious” and said she was being “punished” by not having a little girl, which left her sister seething.
The woman explained that she has no living children herself, despite being pregnant four times, as she sadly endured three miscarriages and one stillborn baby.
Naturally, she was upset by her sister’s reaction over the gender as she was still going to have a healthy baby.
She wrote: “She got so hysterical and furious, and she cursed and screamed that she wanted a girl; she was supposed to be having a girl, and who the f**k was punishing her this way.”
“Her husband looked equally upset by the reveal. I heard him say it was all bulls**t and what a waste.”
“My sister’s temper tantrum saddened me and honestly sickened me as someone who would do anything for a child to raise. So we quietly left, but it was noticed.”
Her sister later confronted her for leaving without comforting her and was called a “terrible sister”, and even their parents told her she should have been there for her sibling.
The world’s most expensive gender reveals
GENDER reveals are becoming bigger and more elaborate day by day, with people constantly thinking of different ways to up those before them.
And money is no issue for a lot of these couples – with some spending hundreds or thousands on the event.
Read on for some of the most expensive gender reveals in history.
Ste Hamilton
Wealthy property tycoon and YouTuber Ste Hamilton decided to gift his wife-to-be Isabella Rowles with a £300,000 Lamborghini, which would be in either pink or blue to reflect their baby’s gender.
Steven and Isabella and friends and family attended an extravagant event at the Belfry Hotel and Resort near Birmingham to find out they were having a baby boy.
“It was worth every second of the hard work to see the happiness in everyone’s faces on the day,” Ste said, after spending a further £40,000 on the big reveal.
Logan Paul
The wrestling star and YouTuber and fiancee Nina Agdal staged a public wrestling match for their gender reveal.
A wrestler in pink trunks took on one in blue, with the one in pink emerging victorious – signifying that they are having a baby girl.
Inga Stumbriene
The Lithuanian influencer hired planes to fly in the sky as she, her fiance and their nearest and dearest watched.
The planes dropped a load of blue confetti – revealing the pair were having a boy – but people insisted it was the “most polluted” gender reveal ever.
Anonymous couple
One of the most recent jaw-dropping gender reveals happened in May 2024, when a couple decided to DYE a waterfall to reveal if they were having a boy or girl.
After the videos circulated on the social media, the public demanded for the couple to be punished, with some suggesting they should go to jail.
Others were concerned about water contamination, as the pair had used a powdered chemical known as “Blue Lagoon” into the Queima-Pe River, which feeds the waterfall.
She took to Reddit asking if she was in the wrong, but many commented claiming they were on her side.
One person wrote: “And let’s just imagine that the little boy finds the video of the party and sees his mother having a nervous breakdown because he isn’t a girl. Poor boy.”
Another commented: “Being upset because you expected a different outcome is one thing. For you and your husband to throw a tantrum and ruin the vibe of the party is another thing. I don’t care what anyone says. I think it’s sick and selfish. The way people try and normalise people ruining their own gender reveals over not having the gender they wanted.”
“Your sister has some definite entitlement issues and throwing a tantrum like a toddler proves she has yet to grow up and be an adult. Other family members supporting her behaviour will only make your sister believe that her narcissistic view on things is right. I’d cut off the lot of them if this is the way they choose to act,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Totally understand your point of view. Sounds like she’s the golden child. Maybe it’s time to put some distance between you and them for a little while.”
“People should not be throwing gender reveal parties if they are at risk for gender disappointment,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “That poor little baby boy.”
