Indian Vlogger Meets Cannibalistic Tribe In Indonesia Forest; Asks ‘Do You Eat Humans?’
Indian travel vlogger Dheeraj Meena has captured attention on social media by journeying deep into the remote jungles of Indonesia to meet the Korowai tribe, a group historically linked with the practice of cannibalism.
His adventure, documented on social media, provided a rare glimpse into the life of the Korowai people, who have mostly lived in isolation, relying on traditional methods such as hunting, gathering, and fishing for survival.
The Korowai tribe, native to the Papua province of Indonesia, has long been sensationalised in modern media for their alleged practice of cannibalism. While the practice is believed to have been integral to their customs, it is thought to have diminished in recent years.
Meena’s journey, which involved a flight, a 10-hour boat ride, and a 4-hour trek through dense forests, brought him face-to-face with members of the Korowai tribe. He shared several videos explaining the lives of the tribe members.

During his stay, Meena engaged in conversation about their controversial past, including the topic of cannibalism. He asked one man, “We heard that Korowai people eat humans. Is that true? Do you eat humans?” The tribe member explained that while cannibalism was practiced by his father’s generation, the ritual had ceased more than a decade ago.
He elaborated that the practice was typically carried out during tribal conflicts, when one group would capture and kill members of a rival faction, and it was then that human flesh would be consumed.
Meena also raised another question about what human flesh tasted like. The Korowai man did not provide specific details, and Meena noted that such descriptions are rare due to ethical and legal reasons.
