Man, 23, faces numerous charges after string of burglaries in Bolton

Evan Smethurst, 23, has been charged with 14 counts of burglary, three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, three counts of disqualified driving, three counts of driving with no insurance, one count of assault against an emergency worker and one count of possession of a Class B drug.

The charges come after a number of burglaries in Bolton and other areas.

Sergeant Oliver Cooper of the Bolton South Neighbourhood Team said: “These charges are a result of hard work from numerous police officers who worked extended shifts, deviated their shifts and went above and beyond to ensure these investigations were progressed.”

“Response and neighbourhood officers from all areas of Bolton have assisted the neighbourhood crime team who have done a fantastic job in securing the charges.

“We are committed to delivering outstanding service to our communities and we will continue to fight this type of crime.”
