The incident is reported to have taken place in Morpeth Avenue, Middlesbrough, during the early hours of December 30.
A man and a woman were taken to hospital for treatment. They were later released.
A 27-year-old man is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today, December 31, facing two counts of assault.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “A 27-year-old man is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, December 31, charged with two counts of assault which left two people with non-life threatening stab injuries in Middlesbrough.
“Middlesbrough CID charged the man following the reported incident in Morpeth Avenue in the early hours of Monday, December 30.
“A man and woman were taken to hospital and later released following treatment.”
