Man drove nearly six times over booze limit to ‘go to the shops’
Luke McKenna, 22, was stopped by police in the early hours of July 8 on the town’s Switchback Road.
They found eyes his eyes to be bloodshot and his speech slurred.
He later pleaded guilty to having 123mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The limit is just 22mg.

At Dumbarton Sheriff Court on November 19, his defence solicitor said: “He made a foolish decision to go to the shops to get food. That’s the only explanation. He is extremely remorseful.”
Sheriff Euan Cameron warned that the “incredibly selfish” behaviour could have led to “catastrophic consequences”.
He banned him from driving for 22 months and ordered him to do 65 hours of unpaid work in the community within six months.
