Netflix Claims Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul Was The Most Streamed In History; Internet Reacts With Buffering Memes

OTT giant Netflix claimed that the Mike Tyson (58) vs. Jake Paul (27) boxing bout on November 15 was the most streamed sporting spectacle ever in the history of sports streaming online. The company claimed that for last Friday’s event, 72,300 fans gathered at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to watch the match live, while over 108 million Netflix users relished the game from the comfort of their mobile screen. The company further claimed that global streaming peaked at 65 million households, while the data for concurrent streaming in the USA was 38 million. Netflix tied up with Most Valuable Promotion (MVP) for the much anticipated Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul versus Mike Tyson, The Baddest Man on the Planet. Besides the Tyson-Jake main event, the main co-event was Katie Taylor (38) “The Bray Bomber” from Ireland versus Amanda Serrano 2 (36) “The Real Deal” from Puerto Rico, who engaged in a brutal 10-round rematch with 74 million global viewers. The record-shattering fight was also the most watched professional women’s sport in the history of the US. Besides the streaming record, the event also made history with the biggest boxing gate outside of Nevada. Mike Tyson got $20 million, while opponent Jake Paul made off with $40 million for the historic Netflix bout.

Meanwhile, users disagreed with the Netflix claim and dropped buffering memes. Netizens reminded how the server glitches and endless buffering screen ensured no one actually saw “a freaking thing.” Others accused that “It was all staged.”
