Newcastle United set huge asking price for Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak
Newcastle United will demand in excess of £150 million from Arsenal or Chelsea for Alexander Isak, according to reports.
The Sweden international has been in sublime form for Newcastle in recent weeks, scoring seven goals in his last six appearances.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, who joined Newcastle for a club-record £63 million fee from Real Sociedad in 2022.
However, The Telegraph reports that Newcastle intend to scare off any potential interest by demanding a transfer fee above £150m.
Isak has just under four years remaining on his current contract with Newcastle and the club are said to be ‘relaxed’ about the striker’s situation.
Speaking after Newcastle’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, Howe said: ‘I love Alexander Isak, he has unbelievable quality.
‘He’s the right age, has the right athletic profile, I signed him and love him. I wouldn’t swap him for anyone.’
Howe also stressed last week that Newcastle have no plans to sell Isak in the upcoming window.
‘We absolutely want to keep Alex at the football club,’ Howe said.
‘There’s no part of me, or anybody at Newcastle, that wants to let Alex go. He’s very much part of our long-term plans. Personally, I don’t see that being an issue.’
