Northern announces timetable changes due to planned engineering works

Planned engineering work will take place between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly from 11.25pm today, Monday, to 5.20am on Friday.

All lines will be blocked while the work is expected to take place, with rail replacement busses covering services.

The delays come days after Minister for State Transport, Lord Hendy, told MPs that Christmas train services could be disrupted by staffing shortages.

A spokesperson from Northern said: “Some services will be replaced by buses throughout. The 00:44 (Tues,Thurs,Fri only) Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly service will be bus replaced throughout.

“This service WILL NOT RUN on Wednesday morning.
