PICTURES: York enjoys day of heavy snowfall
As York and North Yorkshire woke up to thick snow on the ground with more falling, we asked our readers to submit their photos.
And with too many submissions to count, here are some of our favourites:
A snowy sunrise over Fossgate was caught by member of The Press Camera Club, Sally Millington. Want to join our community of photographers? Then you can join The Press Camera Club on Facebook.
More than 2,800 readers have joined The Press Camera Club, which launched in June 2017 and brings together talented amateur photographers from across York and North and East Yorkshire to share their work, swap tips and take part in themed monthly prize competitions.
To join the free club, simply search for ‘The Press Camera Club’ on Facebook – we’d love to see what our region looks like through your lens. Every day, we feature pictures from our camera club on our letters pages in the print edition of The Press.
Fellow Camera Club member Garry Hornby caught York’s gritting trucks in front of Clifford’s Tower. But that wasn’t their only siting.
As the Camera Club’s Danielle Simpson captured the moment they left their home at Hazel Court.
City of York Council told The Press that the gritting trucks are responsible for covering around 360 miles of road in York, adding that they’ve been hard at work in recent days, and will continue to do so.
Customers and staff alike at York Ghost Merchants weren’t deterred by the weather, with queues being typically long in the Shambles.
Crowds were also seen enjoying the snow in Acomb Green, with an array of coloured sledges on display.
It was a slightly more peaceful morning in Dean’s Park, as Camera Club members caught a cold Paddington.
Sadly, not everyone was as approving of the snow. With Melanie catching her dog leaving a negative review of some of the snowmen in Clifton Moor.
