Plans for new restaurant and takeaway in Paisley given go-ahead
Planning permission for a change of use for the unit in Causeyside Street has been granted, subject to conditions, by the local authority.
The site is located within a mixed use area in close proximity to the town centre, with a combination of shops and flats found in the immediate vicinity.
A report of handling by the chief planning officer said: “In this case, the proposal seeks the change of use of a retail unit to a restaurant with a hot food takeaway.
“In assessing this proposal, it is considered that a restaurant and a hot food takeaway would generally be directed towards the town centre, however given the nature of uses at ground floor level along Causeyside Street and the proximity to the town centre it is considered that this use would be compatible with the surrounding area.”
It continued: “Overall, it is considered that on balance, the proposals comply with the criteria of the delivering the places strategy and the proposed use would not have a significant impact on surrounding residential properties when compared to that of the former retail unit.”
The applicant was informed their application had been successful towards the end of last month.
In its official decision notice, the council said the proposal was in line with the provisions of the development plan.
