Spectacle and splendour at Newton Aycliffe Christmas lights switch on

Christmas has arrived in Newton Aycliffe with a bang, as Aycliffe Town Centre was taken over by artistic drummers Spark to watch the festive light switch-on for 2024.

Residents brought their little ones to meet Santa, enjoy some fantastic entertainment, and kick off the holiday season.

Greenfield College Choir, Shine Children’s Choir, and ‘Calvos’ warmed up the crowd for performances by the Macadam School Of Dance, Aycliffe and Brancepth Brass Band, and St Frances’ School Choir.

The lights were officially switched on by Cllr John Clark, before crowds were wowed by Spark Street Theatre, drumming and dancing with their LED instruments.

Here are pictures from the amazing event. Can you spot yourself?
